“We venerate Your most pure image, O Good One, and ask forgiveness of our transgressions, O Christ God. Of Your own will You were pleased to ascend the Cross in the flesh to deliver Your creatures from bondage to the enemy. Therefore, with thanksgiving we cry aloud to You: You have filled all with joy, O our Saviour, by coming to save the world.”
A Warm Welcome from Father Philip
Welcome to Christ the Saviour Church, a growing, warm and welcoming parish situated in the lower Richmond district of San Francisco.
This parish has been faithfully serving the spiritual needs of Orthodox Christians in the Bay Area since 1952. At the center of our parish life is the Divine Liturgy on Sunday mornings. Elder Sophrony of Essex tells us that every Divine Liturgy is a Theophany - an event when God reveals Himself.
“The Divine Liturgy is the way we know God and the way God becomes known to us. Every member of the Church is an icon of the Kingdom of God. After the Divine Liturgy we must continue to iconify the Kingdom of God by keeping His commandments. The glory of Christ is to bear fruit in every member…His fruit.”
We invite you to come, see, and hear for yourself!
Our services are in Slavonic and English and according to the Julian (old) calendar. Please feel free to come and pray in our beautiful church and don’t forget to stay for the meal that follows. We will be happy to see you!
